Hearing Assistance

If you have hearing loss, you’re not alone. Hearing difficulties affect approximately 15 percent of American adults — more than 36 million people! As hearing fades, having a conversation with others becomes more difficult. Hearing loss can also affect your life more broadly, from your personal relationships and social interactions to other aspects of your physical health and even your psychological well-being. The good news is that most forms of hearing loss can be treated and your hearing improved, allowing you to return to the activities and socializing you enjoy.

Do I Need Hearing Assistance?

You may benefit from hearing tests and possibly treatment for hearing loss if you:

  • Have difficulty following conversations involving two or more people
  • Have problems hearing in noisy areas, like conferences, restaurants, malls or crowded meeting rooms
  • Have trouble hearing children and women
  • Turn up the TV or radio to a high volume
  • Answer or respond inappropriately in conversations
  • Experience ringing in your ears
  • Sometimes hear voices as mumbled or slurred
  • Read lips or intently watch people’s faces when they speak

What Services Do We Provide?

As a Fidelity Health Care hearing assistance patient, your care and treatment may include the following services, provided in partnership with the Miami Valley Hospital Hearing and Balance Center.

  • Audiological evaluation: A comprehensive evaluation of your hearing, using a variety of diagnostic tests and studies. This includes pure tone and speech testing. We assess your quietest level of hearing and comfortable levels of hearing and speech understanding in each ear.
  • Middle ear function testing: We test the integrity of the middle ear system. That includes assessing the presence or absence of fluid in the middle ear space, or perforation of the tympanic membrane (eardrum), as well as reflexes of muscles in response to loud sounds.
  • Hearing aid and assistive listening device fitting and service: We offer a complete range of devices and styles, including in-the-canal hearing aids, which may be more cosmetically appealing.

Every hearing aid we sell is backed by a 30-day evaluation period. We offer complete training in the use and care of your hearing aid(s), and in-office adjustment and service as long as the aids are under warranty.
